It's high time I paid a little more attention It's high time I thought about trying to change direction High time I took into consideration all the chances for my elevation and the simple thought that maybe I could take a chance for once an really go the distance. It's high time I started to adjust my boundaries It's high time I started seeing what’s around me High time I stopped myself from doing things for evrybody else and started living for myself, and looking out for number one and maybe having fun while I do it. Please, don't give me your opinions I can make my own decisions I'm forgiving all this happenstance, give me a chance, and I will surely learn a thing or two. I've had enough, I can't continue. It's high time I put the focus back on me It's high time I put a little thought into my journey High time I started living in the present not the past, my life is moving way too fast an all I do is give myself away to you. To mine own self be true. To mine own self be true.

In September 04:41
Stars provide the backdrop to the final days of summer. Hope denies the pain inside, all doubts and fears in slumber When we met we knew we'd run the risk, Of never knowing when, we would meed again. Seaside kisses, August wishes lost In September. The end of June brings love in bloom, reveals in fall Our feelings fade as leaves change color Memories linger at first frost, but love is lost in September

How can I tell you in this moment that I want to taste the essence that is you? How you embody all the universal force that leaves me trembling at your feet And if I came across a time that I might lose you I’d surrender I would toss my broken heart into the ocean Open water, in the dark endless sea Your conviction killing me Am I insane the way I yearn to taste the bittersweet complexion of your lips? And quench my hunger with your wine as red as blood that surges constant through my veins? I am alive, I am alone and I am grieving Never ending Burning for your dark temptation, your aroma Your sensation, your convictions like mine Turning water into wine.

The never ending battle Shutting off the light Fighting off the voices Never feeling right No place she can run to No where she can hide The voices coming with her On this bumpy ride The letters on the pages The pages in a book Piling up around her So fast she cannot look She can’t find an answer No matter how she tries Staring at their faces Weeding through their lies Everyone has noticed They don’t know what to say They want to see her different They have to look away What could have happened? What has gone so wrong? No one wants to help you When you don’t belong. Her world is getting smaller Her world is getting dark She won’t leave her apartment Her choices getting stark She’s too afraid to listen She’s shut everyone out Her demons are around her Tearing her apart.

Here in this moment, when I least expected it I've found the answers to my hopes and prayers with you. This song was meant for you, the one who knows my heart. Words alone can not describe the way I feel. My heart is meant for you, lovely you, with whom I share my nights, my days. And I'm grateful the stars were aligned and I was meant for you.

You are to me everything, My life to be, everything, When in my sleep you appear, Fair skies of deep blue appear, Each time our lips touch again, I yearn for you, oh, so much again, You are my favorite star, My haven in heaven above You are everything I love

When the world is wearing me down And the wind is throwing its weight around So cold, it blows right through me I need your love I sure could use your love Right about now They say every soul needs searching But I just don't know where to begin Give me something to go on I need your love I sure could use your love Right about now Now that it's late and I see things so clearly Must be something I can do I feel like calling but it's much too early for you So I'm up here writing this song But tonight the words have come out wrong Think I'll just let my heart speak I need your love I sure could use your love Right about now

A smile on your face, friends gathered ‘round You’re never too old to be wearing a crown? Thirty-three candles make no mistake Smile for the cameras it’s never too late Oh the people you’ve met and the places you’ve gone! All the girls you grew up with have married and moved on At last you’ve surrendered – who cares what they think? You put down the worry, you put down the drink So blow out your candles, you’re finally free Happy birthday to me (instrumental) Haunted by hostages and seeds that you sowed The bodies you left by the side of the road Surrender your demons, release your regrets Make amends to all the people that you’ve ever met You’ve taken the actions; you’ve gathered the facts You’ve built up a stash of esteemible acts This is all you ever wanted, can’t you see? Happy birthday to me. You’re a big girl now. You’re a big girl now. You’ve taken the actions; you’ve gathered the facts You’ve built up a stash of esteemable acts This is all you ever wanted, can’t you see? Happy birthday to me.

Got The Time 04:31
Wake up, got another day to get through now Got another man to see Got to call him on the telephone Got to find a piece of paper Sit down, got another letter to write Think I'll got to get the letter just right There's a ringing on the telephone Oh no, got to write a little later No such day as tomorrow, only one two three go! Time - got the time tick-tick-tickin' in my head Time - got the time tick-tick-tickin' in my head Time - got the time tick-tick-tickin' in my head Tickin' in my head, tickin' in my head, tickin' in my head If I tell you what I'm doing today Will you shut up and get out of my way? Someone asked me what the time is, I don't know Only know I gotta go now No time - trying to get a watch repaired No time - never got a thing to wear Hear the ringin' of the telephone no no Hear a ringin' in my head now No such thing as tomorrow, only one two three go! Time - got the time tick-tick-tickin' in my head Time - got the time tick-tick-tickin' in my head Time - got the time tick-tick-tickin' in my head Tickin' in my head, tickin' in my head, tickin' in my head

When people keep repeating That you'll never fall in love When everybody keeps retreating But you can't seem to get enough Let my love open the door Let my love open the door Let my love open the door To your heart When everything feels all over Everybody seems unkind I'll give you a four-leaf clover Take all worry out of your mind Let my love open the door Let my love open the door Let my love open the door To your heart, to your heart I have the only key to your heart I can stop you falling apart Try today you'll find this way Come on and give me a chance to say Let my love open the door It's all I'm living for Release yourself from misery There's only one thing gonna set you free That's my love When tragedy befalls you Don't let it drag you down Love can cure your problems You're so lucky I'm around Let my love open the door Let my love open the door Let my love open the door To your heart

about

Jazz pianist and singer Brenda Earle Stokes' career is a testimony to Emerson's idea that life is a journey, not a destination. Stokes has fused a passion for the piano and a love of singing into a vibrant career that spans genres easily. With her new album Right About Now, she's found a balance between her two instruments and a very personal place from which to tell stories.

Right About Now features six of Brenda's original compositions, new lyrics to compositions by Village Vanguard lead alto saxophonist Dick Oatts and Brazilian legend Egberto Gismonti as well as unexpected takes on songs by Joe Jackson and Pete Townshend. Brenda's expressive vocals are framed by virtuosity piano chops and explore a range of genre-bending grooves rooted in modern jazz.
